BBAW - Unexpected Treasure

BBAW_2010_Image.jpg

BBAW fun continues and I've been enjoying every minute of it! Today we are meant to discuss a great question:

We invite you to share with us a book or genre you tried due to the influence of another blogger.  What made you cave in to try something new and what was the experience like?

Book blogging has made me expand my interests in many ways. Where it comes to books the most recent genre I've entered into that I never thought I would go back to was young adult or Y.A. books and man have I loved what I've read! Just this summer I've read and reviewed five books after having not read any since I was in middle school and I liked them all! I even finally listened to the first 'Harry Potter'!

Another way I've branched out in a way I never thought I would have is by listening to audiobooks. After clicking on Bibliophile By the Sea and Devourer of Book's blog and listening to them discuss all of the audiobooks they love, I thought I need to give this a try! I did and failed. But I got back on the horse and tried again and have had much success this year, checking out audiobooks from my library at home and loving most of what I've listened to. It's a great way to get in the zone for me at work.

Also, with all of this combined I think I may be reading more than ever! How are you being pushed by fellow bloggers?

  1. I've focused on international challenges, to get ideas for books from authors that aren't "best sellers." I'm discovering classics I should have read years ago.

Love your blog by the way! Connolly-Ahern at Col Reads

  2. Absolutely. Blogging has led me to so many books that I probably wouldn't have discovered otherwise.

  3. Audiobooks is something that I was also turned on to by some girls in the College Students on GR! I found it a wonderful way to spend a boring car ride to work!

  4. I tried YA, a few years back when I was YA I thought they might be too silly and young. But now I dared and liked..some :)

  5. Audiobooks are new for me as well, silly me not mentioning it! I'm glad you are enjoying the YA and audiobooks you are trying.

  6. I was in this same place about two years ago. I couldn't ever imagine going back to the YA that I had as a teen, which I gave up around the age of 12 or 13, but now i love it!

  7. I wish I could say the same about audiobooks! I haven't managed to get into them yet, but I think it's mostly because my library never has any of the ones bloggers rave about.

  8. My current read (Hamlet's BleckBerry) is all Kim's fault! These days, a lot of what I read I can trace back to a book blogger.
