Need a teaser from the book to still entice you? Then here you go: A love story, an adventure, and an epic of the frontier, Larry McMurtry’s Pulitzer Prize— winning classic, Lonesome Dove, is the grandest novel ever written about the last defiant wilderness of America. Journey to the dusty little Texas town of Lonesome Dove and meet an unforgettable assortment of heroes and outlaws, whores and ladies, Indians and settlers. Richly authentic, beautifully written, always dramatic, Lonesome Dove is a book to make us laugh, weep, dream, and remember.
Now I have one more photo this week to entice you! This is to show you that we all have a little cowboy/girl in us. In my past, I used to have to dress up like a cowgirl (I think the white boots were my favorite part) and we took professional photos. You know, others would take photos in a studio in fancy dresses? I would take them dressed up like a cowgirl. All I am saying is, I am surprised I don't read more Westerns. All I can say in defense of the below was, it was the 80s. Also, maybe you have some too and so therefore, it's meant to be that you should read this book as well!
Therefore I give you Exhibit A (I'll show you Exhibit B next week when I harass you again to join our read along!):
|I call this: 'Sassy Cowgirl'. Friends of mine have threatened to blow this very picture up to poster size and make this the theme of my 30th birthday party. What you can't see in the photo is the shirt is red and white checked with little cows on it, yes cows.|
