My Take:
This review is part of the Green Books campaign.Today 200 bloggers take a stand to support books printed in an eco-friendly manner by simultaneously publishing reviews of 200 books printed on recycled or FSC-certified paper. By turning a spotlight on books printed using eco- friendly paper, we hope to raise the awareness of book buyers and encourage everyone to take the environment into consideration when purchasing books.

The campaign is organized for the second time by Eco-Libris, a green company working to make reading more sustainable. We invite you to join the discussion on "green" books and support books printed in an eco-friendly manner! A full list of participating blogs and links to their reviews is available on Eco-Libris website.

When I was asked to participate in the Green Books Campaign for the first time of course I said yes. Promoting Green Books, books that are printed on recycled paper, promote green technologies, theories, etc is something I definitely believe in and I think there is something very powerful with having 200+ bloggers promoting a different Green book on the same day, at the same time. It can really show everyone just the depth and breadth of all of the different books on all of the different subjects that are out there.

There were lots of books that appealed to me to choose from for this campaign but I choose this one because I have had to utilize alternative medicines in order to try to find some answers as to why I am constantly getting migraines and I am always looking for more information on the subject. Well I couldn't have asked for a more comprehensive book! I had no idea there were so many different types of alternative medical therapies out there. There are a total of 339 types of therapies listed in this book. You have a health problem, there is no doubt that if you read this book and you were having a difficult time with finding a solution with Western medicine you could find something that might appeal to you. Now I know that not everyone agrees with these practices or not everyone has access to all of the types of practitioners but at least you can become more knowledgeable in order to seek out what to look for because I do believe knowledge is power.

If I were to ask for one thing more in this book it would be to have the therapies cross referenced by the types of things they could heal. Maybe the theory is that they heal everything but I would assume that some therapies are better at healing certain ailments and with so many options detailed in this book it can be hard to wade through all of your option. So I think if there was a cross reference in the back to help you decide which was the best for what you have it might help narrow down the choices. Other than that, if you are interested in learning more this is for sure going to teach you more.

(Thank you to the Green Books Campaign for sending me this book)

  1. Oh...sounds interesting. Maybe I'll look for a copy to help me with my allergies! I am doing allergy shots, but I also wonder if there's some alternative therapy that could help my sinus problems with my allergies. I like the idea of this book. :)

  4. I get migraines too (which is something that only started recently), so I'd be curious to hear if you find something that works for you. This certainly sounds like an interesting book!
