August was a fun mix of relaxing summer days and fun, busy days with friends and family! While I am sad that summer is coming to an end, I can look back and say that I had a really fun summer.
Also, I can honestly say that I am really looking forward to September. This is big for me since September involves a milestone birthday, the big 3-0, but it also involves a big trip at the end of month to Bali and I can not wait. I haven't gone on a big vacation out of the country in years and I have never gone to Bali, so you better believe I am excited!
On the blog September is a good month too because I get to be the host of Mailbox Monday, one of my favorite meme's, we have Book Blogger Appreciation Week to celebrate, and my two-year blogoversary is in September. Woohoo!
Ok, so let's talk about August! In case you missed it, here's what's been happening around Amused By Books in August:
- I read 9 books in August and I can officially say my summer reading slump is over. Woo hoo! Except for one, they were all rated B or higher so that is great! In total I read: The Alchemy of Chance by Peter S. Brooks; Woe is I by Patricia T. O'Conner; Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto; The Paris Wife by Paula McLain; Life from Scratch by Melissa Ford; The Madonnas of Echo Park by Brando Skyhorse; Let's Take the Long Way Home by Gail Caldwell; Just My Type by Simon Garfield; and Sister by Rosamund Lupton. If I had to pick a favorite read for the month of August it would have to be Just My Type. I can honestly say I've never read anything like it, and I found it totally fascinating! What was your favorite August read?
- I saw some great books that were made into movies this month! Have you seen Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 and The Help yet? If not, I can highly recommend them!
- I made a great recipe this month (if I do say so myself!) that combines the best of August: pie and peaches! Check out my recipe for Peach and Vanilla Mini Pies for a quick and delicious treat!
- We had some great book club chat here at Amused By Books in August! We discussed whether or not we get fulfillment out of our book clubs and some fabulous books that make for great discussion! Click on the links to join in the discussion.
And finally, I have some great giveaways going on so don't forget to sign up to win one copy each of Let's Take the Long Way Home by Gail Caldwell and Just My Type by Simon Garfield (links go to my review and giveaway details). Good luck!

I can't wait to hear all about your trip to Bali! Where did you decide to go?
