My Own Personal Read-a-Thon: It's Finished!
This is the first time I've really done anything like this over an extended period of time: drop everything and read. I have to tell you, I enjoyed it but I also kind of miss human contact! I think I will definitely do it again because it was a great way to make a serious dent in my TBR pile but maybe I'll make it over a smaller amount of time.
To recap, I read in the evenings this last week when I got home from work Tues - Thur, and all day Fri and Sat. Saturday I ended up feeling a little cagey so I didn't get as much reading done but I am happy with the fact that in a normal week I get maybe 2 books read and this time period I finished 3.5 books! Yeah me!
Here's what I finished (all will be reviewed here in the coming weeks):
1. A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan (didn't get it!)
2. Radio Shangri-La by Lisa Napoli (love armchair travelling!)
3. Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M. by Sam Wasson (made me want to re-watch Breakfast at Tiffany's!)
4. Emily and Einstein by Linda Francis Lee (I am half-way through and really enjoying this one!)
Now, I guess it's back to reality ...

Saturday's in the fall aren't big reading days for me because of football. I'm glad you're read-a-thon was such a success!
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful. I really need to do this sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Leah,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that I would be able to concentrate on reading for that long in one go, there are just too many other things that need to be done and would keep distracting me until I did them!
I also find that I start to drop off to sleep if I try reading for too long at a time...this just might be an age thing.
You just can't beat Audrey Hepburn in 'Breakfast At Tiffany's', ravishing beauy and so much style .. a sadly by-gone era, which few have been able to emulate since.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the time with your TBR pile though, I just hope that you still have the energy to cope with the 'Mailbox Monday' links!!
Yvonne
Congrats! I hope to do the same some winter weekend after the first of the year. I know just the books I'll save for it!
ReplyDeleteSo many people seem to have had a hard time with Visit from the Goon Squad; I still have it on my to-read-someday list, but I'm not in a hurry. YAY, you, for being able to finish that many books in a week AND work, too!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, on reading the 3.5 books. I also joined you in My Own Personal Read-a-Thon, on Wednesday-Friday. I got 3 books read. Thanks for the encouragement.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, 3 whole books is awesome indeed.
