Challenge Fail - 2011 YA Reading Challenge

When 2011 started and I was all fresh faced and dewey eyed, I signed up for a lot of challenges (just like I did the year before!) and one of those was the 2011 YA Reading Challenge hosted by For the Love of YA. In 2010 I dipped my toes in the YA genre and thought that I might like to try some more of it. I realize that this is probably one of the most popular genres out there today and everyone loves it but I also realized that, for the most part, I just can't relate to it and I wasn't picking it up this year. I would always reach for something else instead. Everyone's blog needs to focus on something and this is a genre I guess I am just not going to read! I will leave to all of the rest of you who do so well with it!

Challenge, fail! :)

  2. I think it's great to even think about reading out of your comfort zone! Your post made me look at my challenges and prioritize my reading for the next month :)

  3. ya books have been hit or miss for me. some of them i love so much i can't stop talking about them and some of them i just can't relate to the characters just like you. now that i think about it though, i don't think i've read a ya book in a while. time to consult my bookshelf.

  4. I don't read much YA. Of course, I'm reading one right now, but that's unusual. But it is a very genre popular right now.

  5. My issue with a lot of YA is that everyone's turning to the supernatural. I like high school stories, but not all of them need to include vampires or witches!

  6. My challenge fail is the one where where you read your own books. Thought it would be nice to catch up with the books that have been on my shelf for awhile. You would think that would be easy, but noooooo, I kept getting distracted by the bright, shiny new books!

Hey, you win some, you lose some. But wait til next year! *L*
