Where Have My Audio Book Reviews Gone?

Hey ya'll, I don't know if you noticed but I haven't done an audio book review in quite some time. Early November to be exact. And while that may not seem like that long to you, it is to me.

I haven't listened to a single audio book since. Not one. Blame it on the craziness of the holidays or the fact that my schedule has gotten wildly out of control thanks to this thing called 'wedding planning' that has suddenly taken over all of my free time but really I blame it on the fact that that I changed to a different gym (now I take classes instead of work out on an elliptical!) and my role at work has switched up (it's more fun, woohoo!).

So my question to you is this: How do you fit in your audio books? And before you say, in the car on my long commutes. You can cut that suggestion from the list, as I take public transport and so that is some quality physical book time. I need you to help a sister out so I can go back to my beloved audios! Thanks in advance :)

  1. Never :/ Since I do not have a long commute or anything. And well it never works out

  2. I put them on my mp3 player and listen while I clean house. I haven't listened to much of anything other than the Harry Potter books for months though. Almost every other audio I've tried lately has had a narrator that has grated on my nerves. Hopefully I'll find some more soon that I enjoy listening to. Good luck to you with your search for audio time!

  3. I still haven't figured this whole audio book thing out to begin with. Music wins over where audio books would fit in!

  4. Blodeuedd - Haha! Totally understand.

Alyce - Good tip. That worked for me and the man for Bossypants since it was one we could enjoy together!

Suey - music usually wins out for me too but I am trying to work on that!

  5. I don't really commute. Mainly I listen to audiobooks while I'm doing mindless chores like folding laundry.

  6. Most of my listening is done at work. Sounds like that doesn't work for you any longer. Next would be if you do any walking. Finally I listen while I'm cleaning house IF I can't put on some good cleaning music super loud (little monkey is sleeping). I also found that it was nice to listen while working on crafty projects, but that doesn't happen very often.

  7. I have 20+ audio books, and I always enjoy listening to them. But I have a problem trying to figure out when to listen to them. I like being alone with no interruptions.I I did listen to one or two in Nov. while crocheting. Some evenings when I don't feel like reading, watching TV etc. I stick a book in and listen to it. I'm afraid I am not any help at all. ; )

  8. I listen to them on my MP3 player while I'm doing chores around the house or walking the dog. I actually look forward to doing that stuff when it's a good book.

  9. I think I need to start listening to more audiobooks instead of watching TV! I am going to make that a bigger goal!

  10. I just finished listening to the middle grade book The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and I LOVED IT. Highly recommend it. Errands have never been more fun.

  12. Great question. I enjoyed reading all the suggestions. Here's my story: Before I retired I traveled on my job a lot. Audiobooks were a great treat then. I missed that after retiring. I've gone back to using audiobooks as a treat. They are on my iPod and I take it with me when I take a walk or work around outside. I also love to sit and knit and listen to books.

  13. I've tried to listen to audiobooks but they never work out for me. I blame my work, and my ability to tune out my surroundings. I tend to stop listening to the audiobook and concentrate on something else. I'm jealous of those who can listen to audiobooks, but it doesn't work for me.

  14. Natalie - I'll have to check that book out!

    Kailana - I feel you!

Gigi - it's ok. I too like to be alone with my audios!

Mrs Q - they are definitely not for everyone!

  15. My iPod is always with me so I listen to it around the house, while I'm cooking and cleaning, doing outdoor activities, pretty much all the time. Of course, I scramble to pause it when someone talks to me!

  16. Have made several audio friends by: pulling weeds in the garden and walking the dog around the 'hood

  17. I listen in the car on trips, but also when I take the dog out and do chores around the house.

  18. I'm no help since the only time I listen to audio books is when I'm driving. Oh...and occasionally when I'm out walking.

  19. I also live in the city and don't commute by a car but I listen on my walk to the subway or I sometimes get off a little early and get a walk in and some time to listen to audio. Like others mention, I sometimes listen while doing my "chores" including dinner prep, baking and laundry.
