Mailbox Monday: May 14, 2012

It's Mailbox Monday time! Mailbox Monday is going on tour and May is being hosted by the lovely Martha of Martha's Bookshelf. Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week (checked out library books don’t count, eBooks and audio books do). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists!

First off, I just want to wish all of you mother's out there a belated Happy Mother's Day and I hope you all had a fabulous one!

My weekend, which I thought would be kind of relaxing, ended up being rather busy and productive which was great! We have been having a great string of sunny weather here for the past couple of weeks (wonderful!!) so on Friday after work I felt the urge to go buy some new summer clothes! Saturday I had another round of acupuncture and got my hair done. Then Rob and I did our first batch of wedding favors (homemade soap). We think they turned out great! Sunday I tried Zumba with a girlfriend for the first time. Have you ever done this before? Holey moley that is one serious workout but I would totally do it again. So much fun! Then we did some wedding crafts. A great weekend all in all!

Now it's Monday again!

This week, I got two books in the mail. I don't want to brag but I feel like I've been doing a good job trimming my mailbox lately and I hope I keep that trend up! My bookcases I know thank me.

From Harper:
1. Flight from Berlin by David John

2. Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter

What did you get?!

  1. Yay for Beautiful Ruins -- so excited about that one!

I went to Zumba for about six months and really loved it, though I've completely fallen off the wagon at this point! Hopefully I'll summon up the enthusiasm to get back to classes at some point!

    1. Yeah Zumba is pretty intense and I hope to go again!

  2. what a beautiful cover for beautiful ruins! your weekend sounded fun and super productive!

  3. Enjoy your new books! Flight from Berlin has peaked my interest.

  4. I need some new clothes but I am not a good shopper. Both of your books look great!

  5. I have to some clothes shopping for the summer as well and finally getting in the mood since we have been having some great weather finally. I don't think your bragging about the books you got. I love seeing mailbox posts because I discover so many great books this way. Enjoy and congrats on your upcoming wedding :)

  6. These are two good additions to your library. I especially love books set in other countries. Beautiful Ruins is one I'll have to track down!

  7. Enjoy! your reading week.

  8. Sounds like you had a fun weekend! Good luck with the wedding favors & happy reading!

  9. Enjoy your books! I really enjoyed Jess Walter's last novel and am looking forward to this one!

  10. Flight From Berlin sounds fantastic! Enjoy your new reads!!

  11. Happy reading :) and have a great week

  12. I've heard that Zumba is lots of fun and a really great workout! Enjoy your new books!

  13. Beauitful Ruins is on my TBR list.
In my mailbox this week is the Cozy mystery series by Jenn Mckinlay-Books can be Deciving first in the series
    And drum roll please
The fabulous Carmel California based mystery series
by Elaine Flinn-The Molly Doyle Mysteries. Good enough to call in sick for!

Congrats on your wedding and being so smart to make your own favors and DIY wedding. I enjoy hearing about your progress. Keep us updated.
Zumba I cannot stand the horrible music and I suffer from migraines so it is not for me. It seemed to me like a really young crowd at my zumba which was annoying. I prefer to take my current book to the tredmill, put headphones in and block out the chatter while diving into my book.

  14. Both books look good to me. Enjoy!

  15. I got Flight From Berlin, too, so I can't wait for your thoughts. I made homemade soap for my sister's wedding shower, and it was so much fun!

  16. I love the cover of Beautiful Ruins. Enjoy the books.

  17. I loved Jess Walter's last book so I look forward to your thoughts on Beautiful Ruins!
